The Scout was a compact off road utility vehicle produced by International Harvester from 1961 to 1980, with a second generation introduced in 1971. They were produced in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and was a competitor to Jeep, Ford, and GM compact SUVs. They were available with a wide variety of engines and body styles, including soft tops, pickups, and hardtops. The Scout II built on the success of the earlier model but featured more creature comforts in addition to buffed up mechanicals.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this super original 1972 soft top Scout II for your consideration. The body is painted in slick shade of Medium Blue Metallic and is in great shape. The body is very straight and free of rot and rust as this truck originally from Montana. The truck has a very solid frame and body and the interior is in great shape as well. The blue exterior is accented by white painted bumpers, wheels, and a nice white convertible top. Fender flares and a rear plastic tailgate trim round off the exterior. Finished in black, the seats look very nice, and the tough metal dashboard is in good shape as well. The convertible top fits well and appears to be well sealed. Black carpets and red seatbelts also add to the interior.

While a few different engines were available, this truck is powered by the top of the line 345cid V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine appears to be original and runs without a hitch. With a both low and hi ranges, this tough 4x4 will get you to places that many cars can't. Tough Dana axles and a powerful V8 mean that this Scout is the perfect companion for scouting around.
