1975 Volkswagen Westfalia

The second generation T2 or Type 2 or “Bus” was built for production years 1968 through 1979. They were most commonly called the “Bay Window” and pre 1971 they are knows as the “Early Bay”. They became larger and considerably heavier then the previous generation. These bay windows would see a shift in engine from the earlier upright style to the “pancake” and displacement would increase to 2-liter option almost doubling the horsepower from its inception. This particular bus is a pretty cool, unmolested vehicle that saw just one family ownership until 2009 when the second owner purchased this Bus in Virginia. He is the current owner and consignor. The Bay Window was purchased at Valley VW in Rome, NY in 1975 and based on some hand written notes, it looks like the hand writing changed around 1986 when they documented service and oil changes. At this time it went to a Nephew in Florida and then to my seller. Other than paint and new camper canvas, this vehicle appears to be original. The interior is original including carpet. The paint shows good and was even on the cover of “Midewest Living” a few years back. There is some rust starting to bubble up under the paint in the lower dog-leg and lower slider but by no means I consider this bad…In fact, I think there is still some original paint in the door jams and it is a very solid bus…I have personally owned a few of these and this is a very solid unit, down to the floors, frame and pretty much the rest of the metal. The bus has has been continuously serviced and stored for correctly with no winter driving whatsoever. There are service receipts and invoices to prove it. The VW starts, runs and drives very well with good rubber and newer brakes. This thing even comes with the original side tent with canvas and poles.
