1938 Diamond T Fire Truck Custom

GR Auto Gallery is thrilled to offer this 1938 Diamond T/Howe Model 406D Custom Fire Truck to the enthusiastic public.
Affectionately known as 'Old Smokey', the truck features an original, all steal body, preserved in the loving hands of the Arizona desert. The body was custom mounted to a ½ ton, 1980's vintage, GM truck chassis. It is powered by a 350 CID remanufactured engine, turbo 350 automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. Highlights include: power steering, new starter, upgraded cooling system modified for hot weather and parade use, electric high volume cooling fan, upgraded electrical system with turn signals, additional brake lights, additional tail lights, new 12 VDC to 120 VAC converter to power accessories such as PA systems, additional lights for parades, additional sound systems etc. The siren, horn, flashing lights, and spotlights are all functional.
The suspension has been upgraded with all new shocks and overload springs. The brakes have been recently rebuilt and the tires are newer with roughly 1000 miles on them. The gas tank has been replaced with a stainless-steel unit mounted under the trunk and has been fitted with an electric fuel pump. The original Arizona steal body has been painted to simulate aged patina. Seat belts have been added for safety.
Mechanically this Diamond T runs and drives great. The thoughtful execution of this build enables this Firetruck to be driven in parades on hot summer days without a worry about getting hot. The chassis, suspension and steering set up also allows confident highway speeds. City traffic, or on the go, this custom Diamond T aims to please.
Also included in the sale in 'Lil Smokey', a mini firetruck that is custom built on a lawn tractor chassis. Powered by a Briggs and Stratton engine, it has lights, siren, battery, hand throttle, and hand clutch / brake. 'Old Smokey” is designed to carry 'Lil Smokey' to and from all shows and parades. Ramps included.
Included with the sale are the fire accessories as shown: Hoses, ax, extinguisher, ladder, pick pole, brass pump and pressure controls etc.
