GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1979 Ford Mustang Notchback for your consideration. This example is powered by a 351ci Windsor V8 motor that routes power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gearing. Per the selling owner, the motor received many new performance parts within the last year including an Edelbrock Pro-Flo fuel injection system, Edelbrock fuel pump, Edelbrock spark plug set, MSD Blaster 2 Hi-Performance coil, COMP Cams aluminum rocker arms, a Summit Racing cam kit, a Flo-Tek aluminum cylinder head, electric cooling fans, and new motor mounts. In addition to this the exhaust was replaced with a Borla cat back system with a Pace Setter off-road H-pipe, and BBK long tube headers.

This example is finished in an eye-catching blue metallic color which is complemented by the two tone gray cloth interior. It rides on 16-inch ARE 5-spoke wheels wrapped in General G-Max tires. The interior is clean and features a speed ball shift knob and aftermarket auxiliary gauges. According to the selling owner, the driveshaft, yoke, tailshaft bushing, steering rack bushings, and battery were also replaced within the last year. A Borgeson steering shaft was also installed. Accompanying the vehicle is a folder of receipts for all of the new parts, but the selling owner notes that the aftermarket gauges need to be wired with the exception of the water temperature gauge. The third gear syncro also could use some attention.

Ford began their third-generation Mustang from 1978-1993 which adjusted many components of this already popular model. With what became widely known as the Fox platform, it evolved many times throughout its long-standing popularity from trim level to drivetrain combinations. With the earlier years of this creation, you were able to see a larger body which included a larger engine compartment utilized in many different ways by those who had the know-how on turning it into a racer. Body styles included coupe and hatchback (AKA Fastback) and only allowed for one trim level upgrade known then as the Ghia trim. The engine was the most variant feature to the vehicle with the beginning models seeing a 2.3L from the Pinto, a 4.9L V8 from the Windsor and what was the rarest of the first options due to lack of supplies, the 2.8L V6 engine. Within the first couple years all of these engines saw their changes and new engines were introduced.
