1957 Volvo 445 Duett

This unique classic Volvo is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder motor that produces 115 horsepower. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a smooth shifting 4-speed manual transmission and rear end with 4.10 gearing. To speak to the drivability of this example, the selling owner drove this vehicle over three and a half hours to our Grand Rapids, MI location on the highway at 70mph. Recently this example received a new clutch, new nine gallon gas tank, a rebuilt differential, new valve cover, a new battery, and new flooring including Dynamat sound deadening material. Before moving to the midwest in 2022, this example is believed to have spent its entire life in the sunny state of California. Accompanying this vehicle is a thick folder of maintenance records that date back to 1986.

Offered here is a beautiful two tone Volvo 445 Duett that comes in the great combination of Red/White. All exterior brightwork including the bumpers, trim pieces, grille, and roof rack are nice and shiny. In 2019, the 15-inch wheels received a new set of Falken Sincera A/S tires. A neat feature of the 445 Duett is the rear bench seat is able to be folded down to increase the rear cargo carrying capacity. In the rear cargo area, there is refinished wood and the selling owner also notes that the interior has been repainted.

The name 'Duett' comes from Volvo's intent to produce a car that could be used as a delivery vehicle during the day but also a comfortable sedan when away from work. The Duett was produced in three body styles as a station wagon, panel van, and as a bare chassis suitable for custom body work. Using a ladder frame chassis, the Duett was a versatile vehicle that custom coachbuilders used for the creation of vehicles of all types including both convertibles and pick up trucks.
