GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS for purchase. This fantastic build is a salute to one of the coolest and rare muscle cars of the true muscle era. A GM corporate edict did not allow Chevrolet from installing engines larger than 400ci. However, dealers were installing 427ci V8's to the point where it caused Chevrolet to use an order process normally reserved for fleet and special orders. Two Central Office Production Orders (COPO) were offered in the 1969 model year. This build is the result of much investment and incredible effort to make this car as accurate a COPO match as possible. The result is amazing in accuracy, condition, and performance. This car was purchased in 1997 in Kentucky as a really nice stock RS/SS survivor before the work began on this beauty to turn it in to a Baldwin Motion COPO replica.
This 1969 RS/SS COPO tribute is powered by a 427ci V8 4-bolt engine (3963512 casting number) built by White's Performance in Kingsford, Tennessee. It has a May 1968 built TH400 automatic transmission built to X specs for COPO with 6-bolt torque converter, extra clutches in all gears, and 6000 RPM shift points. It features original 12-bolt posi, Richmond 3:73 gears, heavy duty COPO 10/17 spider gears, dimple rods, .070 over forged pistons, 840 heads, 163 factory Winters intake, Holley 4346 factory carburetor, curved neck radiator, 7-blade GM fan, Eaton AG clutch, deep groove pulleys, console shift with gauges, reproduction Endura front bumper, and COPO speedometer (miles showing 1,400 since restoration complete in 2000). There are many other wonderful details to this car as every little detail was examined in this truly amazing build. The current condition is ready for the concourse, but with this great performance some road work may be too much to resist. Whatever you choose to do with the car you won't be disappointed. Please call or email for more details!
