The Fiero was conceived as a sporty, two-door, two-seater. GM wanted a fun, entry-level sports car that could bring a younger crowd into the Pontiac showrooms. The Fiero was developed to provide plenty of excitement for the driver while maintaining impressive gas mileage. The idea was to produce a car that could be a daily driver and not a 3rd car for the family.
