The Scout 80 is powered by an extremely reliable and somewhat primitive 152 four-cylinder engine, 3 speed manual transmission and twin-stick DANA shifters for engaging four wheel drive. This Scout rides on a DANA 44 rear axle and a DANA 27 front axle. The only other four wheel drive recreational vehicle offered at that time was a Jeep.

This example is finished in a striking cement grey paint that is in great condition. This example is a full convertible as the Rhino Lined hard-top can be unbolted and removed from the truck. It rides on rock crawler rims wrapped in 31-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires. The interior is in exceptional condition and features custom cut carpet and an aftermarket Kenwood AM/FM/CD player. In addition to the aggressive wheel/tire set up, 4x4, and strong axles, Rancho shocks contribute to the already impressive resume of off-road ready equipment.

Classic 4X4's have become very popular as of late and first generation Scouts are highly sought after around the glove. Their classic Americana design, utility and go anywhere attitude keep them on the “A” list of collectors and 4X4 enthusiasts alike. 1963 was the third model year Scouts were offered. The Scouts are known for their ability to go anywhere and have high durability. They are a key part of automotive history as they are considered the first SUV.
