1951 Riley Saloon

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1951 Riley Saloon for your consideration. Riley is a British car manufacturer that changed ownership multiple times throughout the mid to late 1900s. In 1951 the manufacturer was owned by the Nuffield Organization. This example does not have any of the original drivetrain components, but rather it has been upgraded with more modern, powerful, and reliable components. A 4.3L Chevrolet V6 sends power to the rear wheels through a 700R4 Chevrolet transmission with overdrive. The Chevy sourced drivetrain not only gives this classic British beauty more power, but it also makes the drive more refined and comfortable.

Externally the vehicle wears cream paint which is accented by chrome trim throughout the exterior. A hood ornament is distinctly located on the front of the vehicle giving this Riley a more classic elegant appearance. A unique feature of this model is the front doors have rear hinges thus making the door open “backward” similar to the suicide doors of modern Rolls Royce vehicles.

Inside the vehicle are a wood dash panel and a wooden Nardi steering wheel. Like the exterior, there is chrome trim throughout the interior. Modern white gauges and GM steering columns are also found inside the vehicle. The Riley Saloon seats four comfortably on its tweed seats that are great for summer cruising since they do not get hot to the touch under the sun.

While many will love the Riley Saloon for its looks or its unique drivetrain configuration, there is more under the surface that is very special. It has front disc brakes, air conditioning, and Pioneer Premium radio. To make driving easier there is power steering and a Mustang II front clip.
