Ironically the GT6 may not have existed without Donald Healey, the pre-war technical director of Triumph who designed the Triumphs' Southern Cross, Dolomite and Gloria. Unfortunately the original Triumph car company went bust just before the war started. In 1945 Sir John Black's Standard Motor Company bought Triumph, but as the factory had been destroyed, in effect they only had the rights to the name which was used for a series of sports cars. Post war Donald Healey himself started his own sports car company, eventually teaming up with Austin. *History of the GT6 – gt6mk2.com
Offered here is a remarkable example of a well-cared for and highly original 1970 Triumph GT6+ with miles believed to be accurate at just over 24k. This car spent majority of its life in Maryland where it was treated to an open checkbook and driven only when the weather permitted. Vehicle starts up with ease with a pull of the choke and turn of the key. The iconic sound from the engine and exhaust are intoxicating and it begs to be driven. This car was repainted at one time about 8yrs ago in the factory correct Signal Red and the interior was recently refreshed with new carpet kit and new seat covers.
This car drives incredibly well and is a joy to drive on any country road or twisty. During our review of the car the lights were all working, blinkers and hi-lo beams. The interior dome light turned on properly and the lights for the gauges as well functioned. Wipers, horn, fuel gauge and temp gauge as well functioned properly. The car has some awesome 13in custom Minilight wheels with custom spinners at the hubs. Vehicle has been awarded several best in show medals/trophies over the past 4yrs from the previous owner's ownership. New plugs, wires, radiator hoses, brake master cylinder, shocks, boots and water pump all done in the past year.
Vehicle is destined to continue to escalate in value as these have been undervalued for many years but recent sales show that the demand and attention is only going to continue to rise for many years to come. Vehicle comes with original owner's manual, factory brochure, original wire wheels and service records.
