Coming back into production of civilian vehicles, Chevrolet released their first truck since shutting down during WW2. The first of the Chevrolet and the first American post-war truck, this 'Advanced Style' truck was given many wonderful appointments including integrated headlamps and a larger cab which started a large industry trend to follow. With the 3100 Series, capability was pushed to 1,500 pounds load capacity and with their one-ton models (the 3800 Series) you were able to move 2,900 pounds. Many unique characteristics were findable in these early models directly after war due to the Korean Military conflict which put precious-metals into a large shortage. With chrome parts being short on availability, the grills of these post-war trucks were painted steel and most other parts that would have normally been chrome for the appealing factor were painted steel as well. This was a short lived phase but gave those earliest arrivals post-war a very distinguishing look that many collectors have come to admire along with the story.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this highly customized but classically styled example of the 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Convertible Pickup for your consideration. Coming from the same owner for over a decade, many of the improvements have been documented or noted in a binder which is also included in the sale of this early truck giving its next owner a very clear picture of what this truck has received. Featuring a very reliable setup to the drivetrain, this truck hosts a replacement 350 V8 engine mated to a smooth shifting 350 turbo automatic transmission making the drivability more modern and with less maintenance to worry about. Also upgraded to the mechanicals is a power braking system from a 1979 Chrysler LeBaron, a 600 Holley carburetor, Edelbrock intake with lifters and a cam upgrade and a 100 amp alternator. The exterior shows well with its black color choice and tan convertible top which is manual and functional, the wheels are chrome and in great shape, the bumpers and grill are painted to match the body and overall the appearance is in a great driver quality catching the eyes of anyone nearby! The interior sits in good condition with its functioning power windows, the dash is highly original with the exception of the aftermarket AM/FM/CD/MP3 capability allowing its new owner the ability to listen to anything they please.
