1972 Chevrolet Corvette

GR Auto Gallery is proud to present this wonderful 1972 Corvette Stingray T-Top Coupe as 1972 was the essentially the last of the golden years for the C3 Corvette. Granted '74 was the last year for the big block, '72 marked the last year for the front and rear chrome bumpers and the “egg crate” grills. Unfortunately due to emissions and octane requirements, horsepower was down this year but not by as much as the specs show. 1972 was the year that horsepower specs were changed from gross horsepower to net horsepower. Before 1972, horsepower was measured on a blueprinted engine without any accessories such as the alternator and A/C. In 1972 the engines were rated with all accessories and the exhaust system which caused the horsepower of the same engine to be rated substantially lower. Don't let the net HP number fool you, this Vette brings the power!

There were 27,004 Corvettes built in 1972 and of these, 20,496 were coupes. This Corvette is the 16,930th manufactured and came out of the St. Louis, Missouri plant. This car was originally paint code 987 which is Ontario Orange and it was the most popular color as 4,891 were ordered. Even though it is currently not in its original color, the pearl white paint shows exceptionally well and it does sport its original saddle vinyl interior. It is also equipped with the standard L48 350ci 200hp V8 but highly optioned with A/C, power windows, power brakes, power steering, and a tilt-telescoping steering column.

It also sports rally wheels, dual exhaust, and chrome valve covers and air cleaner under the hood. There is also a long list of documentation dating as far back as 1988 as well as the original owner's manual, t-top bags, and assembly manual. This is a well-kept driver that is very good condition and runs very well for a 42 year old Stingray that will keep the smiles coming down the road!
