1974 was a unique year for the Corvette. It marked the first year with front and rear "Rubber Bumpers”, the last year for the big block, and the last year for non-catalytic converters. These three characteristics were mainly driven by government regulation on crash testing as well as the OPEC oil crisis that started in 1973.

The newly re-shaped bumper removes the spoiler at the back of the car and replaced it with a smooth down-sloping deck. The bumper could not be manufactured reliably in one piece, the solution was to manufacture it in two pieces and put them together, this resulted in a seam down the middle for the '74 model year only.

There were 37,502 Corvettes manufactured in 1974 and of them, 32,028 of them were coupes. This particular example is the 26,609th Corvette built for 1974. It is equipped with the base L48 350ci 5.7L V8 making 195hp stock but this one has been bored .030 over to a 355ci with a mild cam, higher flowing heads, and throaty exhaust. Aside from the standard engine, this is a highly optioned car sporting power windows, brakes, and steering as well as a tilt steering wheel, close ratio 4-speed manual, and A/C (it's all there but needs a recharge). Additionally, it is a t-top car and comes with the original bags, has the removable rear window, a 10-disc CD changer, and unique Recaro bucket seats.

It received a highly documented frame off restoration in the mid-90's in Washington state and has been steadily dealer maintained since with pages upon pages of documentation. The car has a little over 20,500 miles since the restoration and drives wonderfully. It has had some custom features installed such as shaved door handles, cascade green paint, a kill switch, and aluminum wheels from a later model year Corvette. It recently was the recipient of a high quality detail and was completely gone through from nose to tip with the engine bay, interior, and wheels/tires completely cleaned and the paint received a clay bar treatment and new wax.

Overall it is a very clean and straight Corvette from a unique model year with some tasteful customization that will continue to deliver joy and excitement to its next owner.
