We are pleased to offer this 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS 396 Z16 Convertible recreation for consideration. There were 201 1965 SS 396 Z16's produced to market. 200 were coupes and there was only one convertible. This recreation of the one off vehicle in such a professional manner makes this vehicle very rare.
This Chevelle has won “Best in Class” honors twice at the Detroit Autorama. This car sits in excellent condition and could be purchased as a show car or a very high functioning driver. The engine and the transmission are coded for 1965. There are less than 20 miles on it from the recreation. The 396, 540 horsepower Chevy Big Block V8 is more than enough power to shove you in to the back of the seat. The car is optioned with factory air, tilt-wheel, and remote mirror. Chassis features include power 4-wheel disc brakes with stainless lines, power steering, Hotchkis control arms, gas shocks, and Airlift suspension. This is a quality build that started from a powder coated frame.
Chevelle SS 396 components include the Z16 only 160mph speedometer & tachometer in a reconditioned gage cluster, dash mounted clock, wood-grain steering wheel, and AM/FM Multiplex stereo radio. Exterior emblems are the correct type and placement for a Z16. The paint job is immaculate and received a “Best Paint Job” award at the Detroit Autorama.
