By 1939 Chevrolet was well established in the automotive world and working on a many varieties of styling and engine options for the consumers around the world. However, in the late 30's the big three was really emphasizing the wagon style of bodies and even though this car is a 2 dr. sedan it resembles that of a wagon as did the 4 door sedan. In fact the first year for the suburban carryall, which was a passenger truck-based utility wagon was introduced in 1936.
A lot of the styling cues from the late 30's lasted until just after WWII ended due to the lack of production from 1942 through 1947.
However, this is no ordinary 1939 Chevrolet 2 dr. sedan. In fact this car has been down to the frame and completely modified including an altered frame to make room for the tubbed rear end to fit the rear tires mated to a set of Weld Pro-Star aluminum wheels.
The entire body of the car is steel except for the fiberglass hood, which is connected to a hydraulic lift powered by an electric motor. The top of the car has been chopped 4” in the front and 3” in the back meaning all glass had to be custom cut and fit. Top quality turquoise PPG clear coat paint was used during the restoration and it shows extremely well. Adding to the paint is the custom air-brush painted flame that is very detailed. To finish the exterior off is the shaved door handles and electric doors operated by remote.
The interior is very roomy with a custom interior down to the door panels and headliner offering electric windows, an overhead console with stereo and cd player. An electronic gauge cluster and tilt wheel top finish this interior off nicely.
The engine is where this gets really exciting. Definitely nothing you would find in 1939. This is powered by a Chevrolet 454 Cubic inch engine delivering over 400 HP connected to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission making this a true joy to not only sound bad but also drive down the road. This car has a Mustang II front end with front disc brakes. The rear end is a 10 bolt with posi-traction. It is connected to a 4-link rear suspension and coil over adjustable shocks.
You would not even come close to being able to build such an incredible hot rod for the money we are asking here today. This car can be immediately enjoyed and shown.
