The Model A was produced by the Ford Motor Company four years and in 1929 one million were sold. The price for a new one was US$500. The Model A was the first of fords to use standard driver controls, such as a gas, brake, and clutch pedal. It was also the first to use safety glass for the windshield. By the end of its production, 4,849,340 were made. The A was powered by a 201 c.i. engine producing 40 hp and reaching a top speed of 65 mph. The transmission was a standard three speed.
