1967 Porsche 912

After years of success of Porsche's 356 models, the six cylinder 911 was introduced in 1964. The 911 was considerably more expensive than the outgoing 356 and many committed Porsche enthusiasts were suddenly left without an affordable model. In response, Porsche introduced the 912 in 1965 with virtually the same proven four cylinder engine as the 356 SC (Super 90). The 911 was 225 pounds heavier than the 356, however, the spirited 912 could still achieve the same top speed of 115 miles per hour.

The selectively restored 1967 Porsche 912 offered here hails from the climate friendly desert southwest. The car features one high quality repaint in its original, special order for 1967 color, tangerine over black interior. It retains all its original sheet metal including floors and rockers, original trim, original seats, original steering wheel, original glass. The 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine has been the recipient of a full and complete rebuild by a local guru, the crank and rods were prepared by Vic Skirmants. The 4-speed transmission was completely rebuilt including 4 new syncros and bearings, new clutch and linkage, and the brakes were fully rebuilt as well.
Our short test drive turn into a very long test drive as we began to discover the quality of the mechanicals of this vehicle. Outstanding only begins to describe the performance of this 912. The Fresh motor pulls very strong in every gear, it shifts flawlessly, the suspension and steering is spot on, and the brakes stop true and straight.
