Plymouth was on their fourth generation for the Belvedere and made big changes to the design and powertrain to keep competitive with other power-oriented models. In 1964, the vehicle featured its all new “slant-back” roofline which became an instant success especially compared to the overall sales of the third generation. This model ended up getting even more recognition as it went on to be the first car to introduce the 426 Chrysler Hemi engine which ended up giving the Belvedere not only a first place finish in NASCAR's Daytona race of 1964, but also a second and third place. This vehicle went on to hold a major place within the racing community especially after Richard Petty chose to drive one.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this well-restored example of the 1966 Plymouth Belvedere for your consideration. The current owner informs us that this vehicle was fully restored in 2008, both the body and engine saw improvements during this time and was done at professional builder's facilities throughout. Hosting a 540ci V8 engine mated to a smooth shifting 4-speed manual transmission, this vehicle is believed to push out around 580 hp and have near 700 ft lbs of torque but looks like a stock model. With power steering included, Hurst shifter installed, manual front disc brakes, TTI exhaust, MSD ignition, Muscle Motor valve covers and all the nostalgia you could hope for, this vehicle hasn't had much opportunity for bad weather as we are told it is from the sunny side of Arizona as well. The steel is believed to be all original except for the driver door and decklid, the Chrome bumper and grille look fresh out of the box, doors fit and operate properly and even the trunk is painted the body color. Within this wonderful example you will find even more craftsmanship including a fresh material spread throughout by Legendary Interiors, the steering wheel and dash are in great shape, the door panels are beautifully done with embossed rim and with just enough modern amenities like its aftermarket radio and extra gauges mounted under the dash to keep the classic styling intact. A wonderful ride with both looks and power, call or email us today for more information!
