Ford, the American automobile manufacturer, produced their first newly designed model after World War II in 1949 since production had been suspended during the war for civilian models. Popularity called it the “Shoebox Ford” due to its slab-sided “ponton” design. This was the saving grace for Ford as they ushered in a more modern car design with integrated fenders and more. This model also introduced a revamped drivetrain, used a newly designed ladder frame which was now able to use coil spring suspension and the modern drive shaft was first used in this era as well. The engines stayed the same as far as size but more power was brought out from the same L-head and Flathead engines than before to keep up with the faster pace roads and highways.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this highly customized 1949 Ford Coupe for your consideration. With what could be classified as a true shoebox hot rod, this car gives you all the looks of the later Fords but with the classic hot rod look which is highly desired and well applied on this example. The bright yellow exterior with its purple flames, shaved handles off the doors and trunk, 15” chrome American Racing wheels and the color coordinated fender skirts in place, this car has all the personality and turns heads wherever it goes. Within the cabin you find a great deal of craftsmanship completed as well with its violet dashboard, Autometer separate chrome panel measuring and keeping track of your voltage, temperature and oil pressure, a beautiful Lecarra three-spoke polished billet aluminum steering wheel with a gray leather cover grip and even power windows with smoke tinting completed. This vehicle comes with a second set of red painted wheels, spare bumper, rear tail light lenses, an extra set of valve covers and even a spare air filter. The front and rear have been lowered 3” to give it a more aggressive stance and the new powertrain helps to make this a real smooth ride for anyone to enjoy! Call or email us today for more information on this great looking, great sounding and great driving example of what post-war had to offer!
