1973 Mercedes-Benz 450 SE

The flagship luxury sedans by Mercedes Benz that were produced from 1972 through 1980 under the internal designation of W116 were officially called the S-Class or “special class” or “Sonderklasse” and would ultimately be selected as the European Car of the Year in 1974. These stunning automobiles would come standard with independent suspension and disc brakes on all four corners. This really cool example comes with a lot of history and paperwork to back it up. For starters, this car was purchased at Wood Imports in Detroit MI and would remain in the original owners control until the late 1990's. This car comes with its original window sticker, dealer and factory paperwork from new. This car retailed just shy of $14,000 which equates to just over $100,000 in todays money. The average cost of an automobile in the US in 1973 was just about $4,000. This car was purchased several years ago by the current consignor who did a mechanical and interior restoration. The paint is all original that still shines very nicely. There is some under-body and lower rocker rust and some cosmetic imperfections but this is a really commanding automobile. All of the lights and gauges work. This is a A/C car also with working heat, power windows, brakes and steering. In addition this car also comes with original owners manual and a lot of receipts both current and from the early days.
