GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1977 Datsun 280Z ZZZap Edition for your consideration. The Datsun 280Z is known for being mechanically robust, reliable, and simple vehicles to own. It was named by Road and Track, as the "Most exciting GT car of the decade." The 2.8 liter overhead cam inline 6 has proven to be a bulletproof engine providing 150hp and 160ftlbs of torque. The motor is paired with a sporty 4-speed manual transmission.
The 280Z offered here is a highly original example finished in a striking coat of yellow paint(#411 paint code). The black vinyl interior is in good condition and shows minimal signs of wear. Highlights include rear window defogger, auxiliary gauges, Kenwood radio, Alpine speakers, and exterior racing stripe. Overall the car presents itself extremely well with its clean interior. The car was bought new in Newburg, Oregon on 8/17/1977. The car ended up in Wyoming, where it spent 99% of its life. The car has maintenance records that show it has been driven only 2,500 miles in the past 20 years, along with the original owners manual, original 1977 service manual, amazingly perfect original tool kit, up-opened tire inflator canister. The original “Made in Japan” muffler and full factory exhaust are still on the car.
This example is one of 1000 original ZZZap Editions built as a “special decor package.” The ZZZap Edition was created in collaboration with an arcade game in which the vehicle was featured. These vehicles are not common sights and rarely come up for sale.
Driving the 280Z is a dream with a tight 4-wheel independent suspension, power-assisted brakes, and rack and pinion steering. Datsun Z cars have an enormous following around the globe and are considered the entry-level collectible with the biggest future. Although their production numbers were high, their survival rate is low. Cars of this quality are becoming increasingly hard to find.
