1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport Convertible for purchase. In 1964, the Skylar's strong sales and popularity led Buick to offer the Skylark as its own model line for the new generation rather than continue as the top trim package for the Special. With the success of the new GTO trim option for Pontiac in 1964, GM pushed forward a Gran Sport time package for the Buicks starting in 1965. The Gran Sport featured Buick's 401-cubic-inch-displacement V8 engine using a Carter 4-barrel carburetor that produced 325 hp (242 kW) at 4400 rpm (it was listed as 400-cubic-inch in sales literature, supposedly to escape a General Motors mandate that engines larger than 400 cubic inches should not be used in intermediate-sized cars). Other Gran Sport features were unique Gran Sport badging, a heavy-duty radiator, and dual exhaust. Buick had officially entered the fray of the muscle car era.
