At the end of the run of the legendary R107 series, Mercedes sent their most powerful and loaded SL yet to the United States. The engine improved in speed, torque, and horsepower. The car also received a new rear suspension and a limited-slip differential to better handle the added torque and power. Mercedes also added anti-lock brakes, leather upholstery, and an alarm system. Today, many enthusiasts gravitate towards the 560SL as it retains some of the original lines of the pagoda SL's while carrying with it all of the R107's advances.
