1927 Buick Roadster

In 1927 the average yearly income was $2,400. A new home cost $7,682 and a brand new car cost $495. This 1927 Buick Big Six Roadster, Series 128, Model 54cc cost $1,925 new, putting it into the luxury car bracket. The car is powered by an overhead 6 cylinder 274 cu in engine with roughly 75 horsepower. This is quite a difference from its current competitor, the Ford Model T, which only had 20 horsepower and 4 cylinders, and was only $400 new. The car features a 3 speed manual transmission, 128 inch wheelbase, power steering, 4-mechanical drum brakes, wooden spokes, Rumble Seat, and golf bag door. The '27 Buick also has features a heat rising “vaporizer” carburetor.

The car was given a $21,000 make over roughly 20 years ago. A new coat of paint was applied and the chrome was re-done. The 6 cylinder was given new aluminum pistons and rings, new rod bearings and main bearings at this time. The shims were also removed from the main bearing. The car came out of a collection in Florida then changed hands and has been residing in a private collection for a few years in Michigan.

Cosmetically, the car shows very well. The car rides on 21 inch wheels and comes with 2 spare tires, owner's manual, shop manual and an extra exhaust manifold. This car is a blast to drive and is a must have for any collection.
