GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this incredibly restored, extremely accurate representation of one of the most bad ass cars ever produced, the 1969 COPO Camaro. The only way you could get the high performance 427 big block in a Camaro was to order through GM's central office; only a handful of dealers had this capability and the general public was not aware that this was possible. As a result, production of the 60 COPO was low, but their presence was huge. Arguably, the fastest production muscle car ever produced, the COPO Camaro has reached legendary status.
At the core of this 1969 COPO tribute is a rock solid body, sheet metal and sub-frame. No detail left undone and no expense spared in the restoration process. The car is beautifully finished in the cars original factory color, Garnett Red over Black Interior. The body, front clip and all suspension parts were media blasted, highly detailed and finished in their factory appropriate finishes, the car features all new glass and trim, new spoilers front and rear, 4 factory correct 14 inch steel wheels and hubcaps, new exterior mirror, new emblems, all new weather stripping throughout, 4 coasts of Garnet Red Base Coat with 4 coats of Clear coat, etc...all highly finished and detailed to “better than new” condition. The interior features new dash pad, new radio delete plate, new weather-stripping, new pillar covers, new headliner, new steering wheel and center cap, new shifter boot and plane, new floor mats front and back, reconditioned steering column with tilt steering, new shifter knob, new interior door panels, 140mph speedometer, new Hurst shifter, new door arm rests, new rear view mirror and mount, new headliner and trim, new rear window package tray, all painted areas were media blasted and appropriately finished, new scuff plates, new carpet, new dash insulation, all new wiring and wire harness, new dome light, new headrests, new door strikers, new heater motor, new heater control, new glove box lining, new kick panels etc. All new and refurbished parts have been masterfully installed with high attention to detail.
The car is powered by a professionally prepared GM 427 / 425 hp (according to the owner built to over 500hp). This motor has all the right components including: L88 Winters aluminum heads that have been completely reconditioned with a 3-angle valve grind, Competition Cam solid lifter cam shaft, Comp Cam timing chain and sprockets, New lifters and 7/16th push rods, new Comp Cam rockers, new high volume oil pump, new oil pan, Winters aluminum intake, new fuel pump, correctly routed y block fuel lines, Holley 850 CFM carb, new water pump, new alternator and pulley, new correct 7 blade fan with clutch, new distributer and coil, new correct plug wires, recondition factory correct exhaust manifolds, cowl induction air cleaner, all pulley's have been media blasted and finished correctly, new battery and cover, new brake booster, reconditioned master, correct 4 core heavy duty radiator etc. The entire engine bay is highly detailed with huge attention to factory correct detail. The transmission is a rebuilt M21 Muncie 4-speed with new 11 inch clutch, fly wheel and complete clutch kit. The 12 bolt Posi-traction rear end features a 4:10 ratio with new gears and axles. The brakes and shocks are new at all 4 corners. Other highlights include new Chambered Exhaust, all new front end, steering, suspension parts, fuel lines and brake lines, new leaf springs and shackles, and much much more.
The cars current condition is breath taking and the performance is amazing. It remains fresh, sorted and has been driven 22 miles since completion and since has undergone a recent nut and bolt inspection.
The 1969 COPO Camaro has reached legendary status in the muscle car world and are globally sought after. Recent sales of authentic high quality examples have teetered around $300 000.00 dollars. The car offered here is so exact, right down the poly glass tires and the dog dish hub caps, that one would be hard pressed to tell the difference in a side by side comparison. Well over $100,000 dollars has been spent in the restoration and build quality of this Camaro, their loss is your gain as you can not come close to recreating this car at the price offered here. Documentation includes pictures of the body and sub frame prior to restoration, a binder on what was done, owners book and recent service receipt.
