This 1979 Volkswagen Westfalia has been completely restored and ready to drive away. It is a rare automatic and is show quality. It's the last year of this body style and the most desirable layout with the full pop top, passenger swivel seat, and working sink, stove, and fridge. It spent 95% of its life in Texas and is completely solid due to this. It starts up great and has an almost instant response when the accelerator is pressed with the new Pertronix flame thrower advance electronic distributor paired with two rebuilt Weber 34 ICT carbs.

The exterior has been professionally stripped, primed, block sanded, primed, block sanded, and painted with multiple coats of the original color of Mexico Beige. On top of the original color are multiple coats of a pristine clear coat. There are 3 coats of paint and 5 coats of clear. As you can see from the pictures it is a mirror finish that is far superior even compared to the original factory paint. The bumpers and rims are in pastel white while the pop top and rack are painted with a Interlux paint- a paint designed for fiberglass boat hulls. A flattening agent on the top was used to mimic the factory look as much as possible. The pop top canopy is also new along with all door, hatch, and window seals. Passenger side battery tray has been replaced and the underbody and all wheel wells have been painted with zero rust. The engine compartment and floor under the front mat have also been painted with zero rust paint with tan instead to keep the look as original as possible. In addition the fan and fan shroud were media blasted and clear coated with high temp satin. Again, this was to keep the factory look as much as possible. All engine tins (except for the 2 ones underneath) were stripped, primed, and painted with high temperature black. All hardware on the exterior (and most on the interior) has been replaced with stainless in their original metric size. Lastly for the exterior, the bus has 5 new Hankook RA08 185R14 tires- the extra is in the spare tire compartment in the sink cabinet. This is a radial tire that exceeds all factory specs for buses and is the only tire that bus depot recommends. In addition, the headlights, taillights, side markers, side mirrors, fresh water inlet, and front emblem are all new.

Before sending the bus away to get professionally painted, everything was gutted out of the bus, and it was soundproofed (fatmat- similar to dynamat) and insulated (reflex insulation). The cabinetry was restored and new interior paneling was replicated using Baltic Birch (including the headliner) with 3 coats of poly on the front and 1 on the back. Original fridge, sink, and stove work great. You can use a 1 pound tank and hook it right up. As you can see from the picture, the electric control panel for the fridge was repainted with black epoxy and gold silkscreened to keep the factory look. Custom curtains were fabricated using a red and white gingham pattern. There is also a front curtain included that attaches to 4 snaps on the interior. The original rear bug screen and child's cot are included and still in great condition (the child's cot bars are the adjustable one). The front floor mats, platform wraps, and vinyl floor were purchased through MadMatz (a company in England specializing in VW bus interiors) and the seat covers were purchased from Sewfine. The front kick panels and front door panels are all original. The original plaid upholstery is still on the rear cushion, the top bunk cushion, underneath the seat covers on the back and bottom of the rear bench seat, and under the jump seat. The jump seats are very rare to find- especially in this condition.
