The Chevy Suburban is the longest continuous nameplate in auto history spanning from 1935 to the present day. Beginning strictly as a utility vehicle, the Suburban was instantly popular with tradesmen and cargo carriers in its early years evolving to the most utility of the sport utility vehicles. Since its inception, the Suburban was all about size, simplicity and utility. Chevrolets rock solid 4x4 capabilities gave the optioned full size Suburban owners a sense of invincibility no matter what the elements were or terrain being traveled. For over 80 years, 4-wheel drive Suburbans have been and still are used as field trucks, forest fire vehicles, crew carriers, construction site vehicles. These vehicles remain coveted by outdoor sportsman and sports orient families alike as they possess a monstrous amount of cargo space along with easy seating for 6 or more.
The 1972 Chevrolet Suburban “3-door” offered here is a wonderful west coast example having just 3 owners until our recent acquisition. It is powered by Chevrolets always reliable 350 V8 engine, automatic transmission and Chevy's legendary part time 4-wheel drive system. This rock solid example has been selectively addressed with recent paint in its original factory color combination: White / Ochre / White. Factory options include: tinted glass, body side moldings, air conditioning, power steering, am push button radio, custom deluxe equipment, parchment trim, rear seat, custom bench seat, door edge guards, front wheel locking hubs, turbo hydra-matic automatic transmission, l78-15-8 on-off road tires and gauge package. This GMC Suburban remains largely as originally optioned and also features newer carpet, interior trim and panels, headliner, stereo and newer BF Goodrich All Terrain tires. Under the hood and the underside remain unrestored and original and in quite remarkable condition. It is important to note that the over all condition and presentation of this vehicle points to a vehicle that has been consistently maintained over its 45 year history.
Vintage 4X4's continue to gain traction and value in the collector car industry. The 1972 Chevrolet Suburban combines size and drivability, and still offers many uses. Quality examples such as this are in short supply and high demand in todays market. The Suburban remains King of the vintage SUV's and continues to offer huge options for use. The original build sheet still remains affixed to the inside of the glove box door.
