Built on the B platform, the full-size vans entered production for the 1971 model year. Due to a one-welded-piece "Uniframe" design, the Dodge platform was lighter and stronger and featured a lower cargo floor than the competition, at the expense of noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). All generations of the B-series van feature similar construction, with only small variation from era to era. The most pronounced changes were to the front fenders, hood, grille, and bumpers, which tended to follow their full-size truck counterparts in each era. Much of this was a result of the need to meet Federal "crash-worthiness" standards. Additionally, the first generation's side door was mounted back several inches, using a fixed panel between the passenger's side front door and the side door, allowing for more access to the side door without interfering with the front passenger's seat. Similar construction for the entire 32 years of production made the Dodge Van very popular with up builders, service companies, and other fleets due to the compatibility of installable options from year to year without necessitating a redesign.

Coming in a really nicely kept two-toned Caramel and Light Mocha Tan this is certainly a van that will catch everyone's eye. The interior comes in the Saddle package for the Royal Sportsman which consists of the same colors as the exterior and the cloth looks like it did when it rolled from the plant nearly 40 years ago. Some features on the interior of the car include tinted glass all around, air conditioning, power disc brakes, swivel seats, AM/FM radio, as well as an aftermarket air horn! The engine in the Sportsman is the 5.9L 360 V8 that starts right up and runs like it is new and with the 3-speed automatic this van is something that you could take the family or neighborhood on a trip and everybody would be comfortable…and stylish!
