The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, which were much smaller than other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply offer a shortened pickup truck, which both increased interior space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform. The Blazer quickly became popular. For the first time, it married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the "luxury" features like air conditioning and automatic transmissions routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, the Blazer was already outselling both of its older rivals. Ford, Dodge, and even Jeep would counter with similar shortened pickups, with the Dodge Ramcharger and Jeep Cherokee.
Time to flex some muscle, take the guns to the gun show, show off your pipes, and pump up with this 1971 Chevrolet Blazer K5 4X4. The removable hardtop K5 Blazer offered here resided in the state of Idaho up until a few months ago. This Blazer underwent a selective restoration. This rust free example was completely striped down to bare metal and properly re-sprayed in its original factory Orange. It is powered by a professionally built Chevy 350 V8 with an upgraded cam, Edelbrock intake and Carb. This K5 has new 15 inch Pro Comp Alloy wheels wrapped with new 33 inch Goodyear Wrangler tires. To set off the stance it was fitted with a Tuff Country 3 inch suspension lift including springs, shocks and bushings. Equipped with ice cold AC, power steering and power brakes, this truck drives like a dream. The interior has been completely re-done with stunning Hound's-tooth seat coverings, new carpet, full roll cage, front 3 point retractable seat belts, rear 2 point seat belts and a super cool Retro Sound stereo with auxiliary jack.

Vintage 4X4's have found favor with the collector car world and early K5 Blazer's are leading the way. These trucks continue to serve many purposes in adventure, utility and family fun and are considered excellent automotive investments. A great vehicle for a seasonal home, everyday use and the centerpiece of any collection.
