The Chrysler Corporation was growing fast and with well over 20 million spent in expansions and developments in the three years prior to 1928, there wasn't much holding them back from continuing their roll. With major competitors that were established well before Chrysler, the company caught on to ways to get more publicity and by 1928 they had entered their vehicles into the racing circuits across the world. Some of Chryslers earliest efforts to produce a vehicle showed to be a worthy investment and even though they held a slightly higher price tag than most vehicles available for purchase during that time, their popularity grew and their by 1928 the Chrysler Corporation was in full swing. The models of that era featured the Chrysler 75-horsepower, 248.9-CI, L-head, inline-6 cylinder engine and have become a real gem in many collections and museums alike.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this very historical and well restored examples of the 1928 Chrysler Model 72 Diplomat Limousine for your consideration. With one very unique and rare history, this vehicle is believed to be one of only a few models that were built specifically for shipping to King Boris who was the King of Bulgaria back in that timeframe. The story told with this one is backed by the fact that with no record of ever being titled in the States until just prior to offering this classic up for sale today, the total amount of these 4-door “limousines” is believed to be only 32 total! With all of the research completed by the current owner we find evidence that this could very well be one of those few and when referencing a book titled “70 Years of Chrysler History” written by George H. Damman, the main items that can be found within this book show the cowl vents on the rear door and colored inserts which is present on the model offered to you today! A real piece of history and brought into the States and restored by the current owner, this one shows very well from the curb and has all the classic comfort well intact on the inside as well. The top has all the proper framing for the canvas top to be spread over it but is not currently installed, the seats and doors all feature new well-fitted material and with a wonderful light tan color which goes excellently with its classic styling. The wooden floor boards, original gauges, well recreated two-tone paint, all the headlights, spot-lamp and even tail light are where they belong giving this model a great deal of nostalgia. Still featuring the L-head I-6 cylinder engine mated to its 3-speed manual transmission, this is a very original example with only a little work left to bring it fully back to life. Call or email us for more documentation to back the story told on this excellent early Chrysler today!
