Since the stopping of production of the Lincoln Continental in 1952, Ford Motor Company moved to conduct some research to decide whether having a premium car would still be marketable. Although all research done showed that they would more than likely lose money on such a project, they continued the luxury model production in hopes that such a prestigious vehicle would gain them enough publicity to make up for any such loses. A design contest began between Ford stylists and outside contractors to make its new design and ended up being led by John Reinhart. This newly designed model went on to receive the new tag “Mark II” within its name and was classified as a two-door coupe with both traditional and classic designs and was termed by Reinhart as a Modern Formal design.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this highly original and well-restored example of the 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II for your consideration. Having come from the same owner for the last almost 30 years, this vehicle is truly something special that you don't come across often especially considering the condition! With what is believed to be the original 368 V8 engine mated to its 3-speed automatic transmission, this vehicle runs and drive out well but holds on to that nostalgia feeling throughout. The exterior shows very well with its correct factory color which has been recompleted in the 90's, the trim and chrome all standing tall but with a great set of chrome spoked wheels that go a long way in setting this vehicle off from the curb. The interior is just as well hosting a very original looking burgundy and grey material throughout which shows little to no wear. From the dash to the floor to the headliner, this vehicle is just as nice as the outside and is sure to keep its next owner very comfortable from the drivers and passengers seats. From the rear bumper with its cut-outs for the exhaust to its beautiful fins to the unique continental package built into the trunk, it doesn't get much better than this! Call or email us today for a closer look at this hard to find and well-kept example!
