GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible 4-speed for purchase. The GTO started off as an option package on the Tempest. The youth movement in the management at Pontiac wanted something built for performance, but General Motors had an edict on stock displacement. Many muscle car enthusiasts point to the 1966 & 1967 model years as one of the best body styles ever built with the signature being the stacked quad headlights.
This thoughtfully restored example has been owned the same individual for 20 years, had a great deal of its restoration done about twelve years ago and road time has been limited to cruises and sunny soaked drives and is in excellent condition. This model hosts a 400 crate engine with only around 8,000 miles, an upgraded MSD and distributor, Tri-Power that operates perfectly and is an overall excellent driving machine! The interior is also extremely nice with new seat covers, new carpet, a new dash and gauges that all work as designed. The black power top works like a dream with a new rear window. The exterior is one of the cleaner looking models that we have had with a clean set of chrome bumpers, a great set of Rally II wheels fit for the vehicle and the black top matched with a red exterior really looks sharp from all angles! The vin decodes accurately to show it is a true GTO built out of the Pontiac, MI factory and was originally a 2-dr convertible.
