The Two-Ten series and the One- Fifty series was first introduced by Chevrolet for the 1953 model year and was the replacement model for the Styleline DeLuxe series. With many different options and variations between convertibles, coupes, two and four door sedans and the station wagons, it quickly became the best-selling Chevrolet model. The Two-Ten was particularly well sought for during the '53-'54 model years due to the wonderful balance of style and luxury options which weren't available for the One-Fifty series. These features brought this series much closer related the Bel Air without the high costs of their glitzy model. Within this series the Townsman name was first used in 1953 on the Two-Ten four-door station wagon which used the GM-A platform. They also made a “Handyman” model which brought the interior from an 8-passenger to a 6-passenger to allow more room for cargo.
This wonderfully done 1953 Chevrolet Station Wagon has the very distinct look of the Wagons built in that era but with many great new options brought to the interior to really make this a unique and comfortable ride! With most all of the original trim, bumpers and hood ornament in its proper place the vehicle shines brightly but with a custom set of colors added to really distinguish this as an original vehicle. Most if not all of the mechanicals, including the 350 small block V8 and 700R automatic transmission have seen their upgrades. The chassis in the front and rear have been swapped, the front seeing a newer Mustang II suspension system with original cross member, Front power disc brakes and rear drums, parallel leaf with air shocks for the rear suspension and a 3.55 rear end gear ratio to ensure it has plenty of power to enjoy! A set of Ram Horn manifolds really make the sound of this wonderful vehicle and with the Ron Francis wiring panel installed you can rest assured the features within this fine ride are all in great working shape!
The interior features a laundry list of amenities from the Dakota digital dash to the 15-speaker system with 350-watt amplifier. There is much to be said for the comfort level you experience from the thunderbird interior which has replaced the older, less padded seats. With 8-way power driver and passenger seats, power windows all around and that classic tailgate setup in the rear this vehicle was certainly done with the goal of convenience and comfort! With a folder full of receipts and specifications beyond what is described here, call and schedule your visit to see this great ride as soon as you can!
