For 1965, Plymouth had moved to rebrand the popular Belvedere I and adjusted the name ever so slightly with a “II” which was essentially the now-full-size Fury and Sport Fury with a hardtop as they shared the same wheelbase of 116 inches. The Belvedere II was also now available in a convertible body style as well as wagons which stuck to the Detroit markets formula of success and continued their optional 2-door or 4-door variations for both. For 1966, the popular Plymouth Belvedere was restyled with a cleaner set of lines with subtle but definitive styling. Body choices essentially remained the same, with a new standard engine, the 318-cid V-8 was now the power plant to move these beautifully designed rides smoothly down the road.
This 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II is believed to be as original as the day it rolled off the assembly line and the only known work to the current owners' knowledge is a newer paint which stuck to the original paint code on the manufacturer plate. With all of the pieces where they belong within the interior, you can see how greatly preserved this vehicle was as the looking-to-be original interior doesn't show any signs of decay or fraying. From the door panels to the headliner it all shows as clean as the outside with little to no wear or tear to be found! The exterior shines brightly with bright chrome bumpers, a wonderfully matched silver hard top sets it apart from your single colored vehicles and clean wheels with newer tires look excellent from close and afar. As you look closer at the underside of this Belvedere you can tell it was kept in a great location to ensure the longevity of its great looks. Much can be said about how great this vehicle shows inside, outside and even underneath which is rare for a vehicle that seems to have lived most its life here in Michigan! A vehicle of this age showing such a low amount of miles is both exciting and reassuring as to how it was able to have kept in such a great condition and that makes this a “must-see” within our gallery! Many of these models were made when manufacturing was happening in this era but not many have survived this well and with such a large market for these non-molested models it won't be here long!
