Chevrolet's radically different 1947 Advanced Design light-duty trucks represented a sea of change in pickup design and appearance. The nation was entering the exciting Post World War II era and after four long years of war the American people, especially the veterans, were looking forward to new opportunities in the world's greatest country. There was no better way to put the past behind and look to the future than with new lines of America's favorite form of transportation - cars and light trucks. Post War automobiles followed a little more than a year later than the new trucks. GM was the first manufacturer to release the new-look post War trucks late in the 1947 model year as 1947 models. They were announced at Chevrolet dealer showrooms on Saturday June 28, 1947 and continued with little change until 1953. ~ Don Dunn
Just out of a private collection, GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this pristine 1953 Chevrolet 3100 Advanced Design pick-up. Every nut and bolt and every square inch of this truck has been meticulously restored, refurbished and detailed to a high level. The 216.5 inch Overhead Valve six cylinder engine, manual transmission and drivetrain is numbers matching and believed to be original to the truck, it has been fully rebuilt, restored and overhauled yield the truck in excellent running and driving condition. All electrical components still remain 6 volt and all are in working condition and as an added bonus, turn signals, not available at the time have been added to this vehicle. Other highlights include outstanding factory sheet metal, original style bias ply tires, steel wheels, hub caps, a meticulously restored wood bed, and the paint is outstanding. The restoration on this truck is approximately 10 years old, since it has been reliably driven 1395 miles, maintained as part of a private collection and kept in a clean, climate controlled environment.
The restoration of this truck has been painstakingly documented with all receipts, research and photo album from start to finish. The original photos of this truck document that prior to restoration, the truck was a nice, very solid, non-problematic piece to start with. All parts and pieces to this truck are original or NOS. Numerous articles were written about this truck and the passion of the restorer.
