1963 Dodge Polara

Up for consideration is this Super Stock Clone, the 1963 Dodge Polara. For 1963, the Polara was lengthened to a 119” wheelbase in an attempt to better compete against the full-size competition. The cars' bodies traded their larger fender creases for a slight “cove” at the upper body. A pillared sedan and a new trim level with bucket seats also joined the lineup, and many engines became available, from a standard 6-cylinder to 318-cid, 361-cid, and 383-cid motors. The high-revving and torque-happy 383 could either be ordered with 305 or 330 horsepower, with the latter being one of the best performance engines of its day. Most importantly for enthusiasts, though, Dodge introduced the famous Ramcharger 426-cid Stage III Wedge-head big-block with 425 horsepower. The engine, with a full race camshaft and state of tune, set many NHRA records—quarter-mile times were in the 12 second range with speeds near 120 mph.
This specific model has had extensive restoration and has seen work done to near every bolt and panel. A rotisserie-style restoration that is believed to be completed in 2000 and has been featured in the “Mopar Collectors Guide” 2001 September Edition! This magazine paints the beautiful story of its rich history and will be included in the sale of this fine rendition of a racing legend. Included underneath its hood rests a 440 Wedge bored .060 over, Ross 12.5:1 compression forged pistons, M-1 Intake 924 CFM Carburetor and may other great quality racing additions that is believed to push this near 600 Horsepower! The engine is paired with a TorqueFlite 727 transmission with the factory push button shifter. The previous owner tells us along with the magazine story that the vehicle originated from Kent, WA and was a near rust-free vehicle to begin keeping many of its parts original and unmolested. Street and track ready, this vehicle hosts a laundry list of new installs since including new front disk brakes, new front bushings, transmission blanket, roll cage and a 350 shot of nitrous oxide controlled from the dash.
