1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback Coupe for purchase. '65 was the first year for the new fastback design as it provided a sportier look while still retaining utility with the fold-down rear seats. While it only cost $232.23 more for the fastback versus the standard coupe, only 77,079 were produced out of the total 559,451 Mustang production, which is only 12.75%.

This example is strikingly original and in very good condition throughout and operates flawlessly. It is equipped with the original A-Code 289ci 4v V8 producing 225hp mated to its original 4-speed manual. It is a 2-owner car and was purchased new at Ray Whitfield Ford in Taylor, MI on May 26th, 1965 for $2,899.50 per the original sales invoice. It came with the following factory options: 289ci 4v 225hp V8, 4-speed manual, radio, tinted glass, 2-speed electric wipers, and Rally Pac gauges.

As the story goes, the original owner and his wife moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1983 and took their beloved Mustang with them driving it all the way. Per the Arizona registration documentation, the odometer read 17,409 miles on July 13th, 1983. In 1988, the couple moved back to Michigan with the car and in 1992 it was sold to its 2nd and current owner, who was also a very good friend of the original owner, with just over 19,000 miles. The car now shows 23,237 original miles as it was predominately relegated to car show and Sunday cruising duty. The sale includes the original owner's manual, original maintenance booklet, original service manual, original owner's card, original keys. The heads have been upgraded with hardened seats to burn unleaded fuel and a Borla exhaust has been installed to give it a little more muscle sound.
