Priced to sell is this American icon… the 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe is an automotive icon with its sleek and unique shape.
This example is the best of both worlds, as it comes with the original, numbers matching L79 high compression 327CID / 350 HP engine, but currently has a very strong 350CID in it with Edelbrock carb and aluminum intake, electric fan, MSD ignition, Headman ceramic coated headers and an Optima battery. Additionally, it currently has a vintage Hurst shifter mounted, but comes with the original OE shifter. Also included are the original fan shroud and fan, much of the chrome ignition shielding and the spare tire carrier (tub). The undercarriage is spotless clean... un-rusted and un-restored. For example, the brake tubes are original and the spiral wire armor is clean and still moves freely on the tubing. There can also be seen factory wax pen markings on the undercarriage. This car has been a west coast car its whole life, and is evident by its very clean condition. The interior carpet is black but you can see that it has sun faded over the years in the luggage compartment area from the west coast sun beating through the rear glass all those years - indicating however that it is original.
It was purchased as a high performance ride with the 327ci 350hp V8, 4 wheel disc brakes, 4-speed, and power options delete. And, it still sits mostly original, including its high RPM redline tachometer. The non-original elements include the paint and the engine et al as mentioned above. It was originally RPO 972 Ermine White but it is now finished in a pleasing shade of metallic grey. Aside from this, the interior, body, and entire undercarriage are original and in fantastic condition for being 48 years old.
Here is your chance to grab a mostly original '66 Corvette Coupe, which is better than money in the bank! Chevrolet built 27,720 Corvettes in '66, of which only 9,958 were coupes (35.9% of production) and only 7,591 were built with the L79 High Performance engine option. These statistics and the timeless styling is contributing to the strong appreciation of these C2 coupes.
