1957 Porsche Speedster

One of the most desired Porsche models today is the Speedster. It was a joint venture between Porsche and sole American importer Max Hoffman. He thought that the market here in the U.S. needed a cheaper version of the 356. Porsche agreed and built stripped down versions of the cabriolet, offering just a soft top with no side windows amongst other changes.

Today, this car is widely copied and has brought an onslaught of companies trying to make the perfect copy for a fraction of the cost.

One of the earlier companies to get their feet wet in the large manufacturing of kit cars was Classic Motor Carriages, based in Miami, FL. It was a giant 160,000 sq ft. building that offered design, build and display. During the 80's they built replicas of MG's, Mercedes Benz and the speedster. They built two different speedsters, the classic and the Speedster C which was the racier version with roll cage, fender flares and different wheels.

The car offered here has only traveled 3400 miles since new, it is a two owner vehicle and is in excellent running and driving condition. It still retains its original Primrose Yellow paint and Tan interior.

Original owners manual, tech guides, sales pamphlets are included. Also with the sale of the car is the soft-top, although in some disrepair is complete with hardware. The fiberglass body is in decent shape showing some age but can be enjoyed as is.
