The GR Auto Gallery of Traverse City is very pleased to present this wonderful Pre-War Automobile that was built by the Kissel Motor Car Company from 1906 to 1930 in Hartford Wisconsin. They were builders of high-quality automobiles, hearses, fire trucks, taxis and utility vehicles. They also produced many military vehicles for WWI.

The most popular model produced was the 1919 Speedster, nicknamed the Gold Bug. The two passenger speedsters were put on the map when people like Fatty Arbuckle and Amelia Earhart put their order in.

The Kissel Company used the Mercury logo and when the company when out of business Henry Ford requested the use of the Logo for the new marque they were planning to introduce and permission was granted.

This White Eagle is recognized by the CCCA as a full classic, which means it is eligible to be judged and tour with the Classic Car Club of America, a true honor among other very important automobiles.

This particular car was purchased as a restoration project by the great-grand daughter of Louis Kissel. She purchased the car back in 1991 and spent many years researching and purchasing parts for this car. In the Early 2000's she sent the car to be restored at which time spent another several years being gone through. All parts that could be found were used in the restoration of this vehicle and what was not able to be found had to be made.

It was not finished until 2006 when the restorer and the owner made the trek to Wisconsin for the 100-year anniversary as well as the Kissel family reuion. She was never really a car enthusiast but felt it was an important part of her heritage and did the restoration in honor of her father.

This particular model is powered by the large 8-cylinder engine with a manual transmission. The car runs, drives and stops still using the original 6 Volt system. The car has just received a fresh fluid change, carb rebuild, linkage adjustments and overall tune-up.

With a little bit of work, the White Eagle offered here will be ready for the show field or just enjoy as is. You can not duplicate this car for the money considering the amount of time, research, love and money that went in to this over the last 20 years.

Accompanying the vehicle are some spares as well as some literature that the owner will be willing to part with.
