1970 AMC AMX

AMC's first and really only Muscle car was built for only two years and would be known and called the AMX….meaning “American Motors Experimental” From 1968 to 1970 the AMX was a 2-seat Grand Touring Muscle car. It was offered with a standard 290 Cubic Inch or the optional 390 6.4 Liter that offered a whole lot of punch for a very affordable price. This AMX that we are offering here is a very exciting piece. This is a extremely well documented car with a full history with dates as well as most paperwork and service history from day one. This car was purchased by Douglas Raab from Gill Ashcom Rambler-Toyota in Richmond CA on October 15, 1969. Mr. Raab was in the service and was deployed to Germany….The car went with him and came back with him in 1973. While overseas the car was regularly serviced by Robert Gericke in Frankfort Germany which was a specialty Rambler service center. We have all the receipts to prove this. In 1974 the car was registered back in Fort Hood Texas where it remained and was serviced with receipts until 1990. It then transferred hands to another service member and in Fort Bragg where it remained and was serviced until 1999 where it traded hands one more time in SC where my consignor purchased the car in 2002. This car has had a couple major engine over hauls, the last big one with .30 over pistons added is the last time the paint was done as well. This is a older re-spray with obvious imperfections here and there however the all the body panels are extremely clean and rust free as is the underside. All the seems are great, the door fit is what I would call good for a AMC from 1970. This car starts on a dime, and goes down the road with excellent power and smoothness. The interior on this car is 100% original and the driver seat could use a re-foam. All the lights work as does the heat. I absolutely love the story and amount of paperwork this car has. In addition, the original wheels, carb, valve covers and radiator are included in the sale as well as all the paperwork and shop manuals. This is a tremendous buy.
