The 924 was a very important car for Porsche in several ways. The 924 was their first road-going Porsche to have a front engine rear wheel drive configuration. It wa also the first Porsche to be offered with a fully automatic transmission. The other very important piece to the puzzle was that it was highly successful in terms of profits which helped the company transition in a learning curve period. And the 924 S that was produced in the final years was actually 944 powered….How cool is that?
