1998 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

GR Auto Gallery is very excited to offer this exceptional 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S for your consideration. 1998 was the last year of the air-cooled engines to be produced by Porsche and very few C4Ss were released that year. The C4S shared all of the features with the 993 Turbo with the exception of the motor. This means that the 993 C4S has the Turbo widebody, Turbo brakes, Turbo suspension, and all wheel drive. The reason for this is that following the 1997 model year, Porsche had left over 993 Turbo bodies that were repurposed for what became the 993 C4S.

Finished in Guards Red with a Black leather interior, the exterior paint is in great condition as is the spectacularly clean interior. Factory ordered special options include the motor sound package, sports suspension, right and left sport seats with electronic height adjustment, rear window wiper, automatic speed control, and litronic lights. Berber floor mats are found in the vehicle and contribute to the overall amazing appearance and quality of this 993 C4S. A unique feature of this example is that the back of the leather sport seats were painted in Guards Red to match the exterior of the vehicle. The car was ordered from the factory with a Blaupunkt cassette radio but it has since been replaced with an aftermarket Alpine radio with SiriusXM satellite radio capabilities.

It is powered by a 3.6L flat-six motor that produces 282 horsepower. Mated to the motor is a 6-speed manual transmission. Porsche built this motor with Varioam resonant induction, a hot film air flow sensor, and a DME engine management system. Power is sent to all four wheels. Other features include a limited slip differential, auto brake differential, and speed activated rear spoiler. The multi-link rear suspension and front/rear stabilizer bars make for an awesome driving experience through corners.

This example comes with a thick folder of maintenance records detailing meticulous care for the entire history of the vehicle. It was recently serviced at Okemos Auto Collection Porsche in 2020 and also received $15,000+ in upkeep at Munk's Motors in Waterford, MI. This example is mechanically and cosmetically sound and ready for its next owner.

As the last of the hand-built air-cooled 911's, the 993 has an appeal that is both classic and modern. 1998 is the year when Porsche ceased all production on its proven air/oil cooled power plant implementing a new water-cooled motor in 1999 and beyond. As a result, the Porsche 911 type 993 along with all other air cooled derivatives became an instant collectible as Porsche enthusiasts felt the new model lost an edge in its refinement. It maintains the diminutive proportions of the classic 911s while still offering performance on par with more modern sports cars.
