1969 Pontiac Firebird

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 for your consideration. The Firebird 400 was given the 400ci V8 motor which is mated to an automatic transmission. With plenty of power and a smooth-shifting transmission, this car is a true joy to drive down the road in. This example has had a complete restoration which was completed in California.

This particular example is finished in a good coat of Warwick Blue paint which is paired with a black vinyl top. Pontiac gave the Firebird chrome accents and bumpers that give the exterior a nice pop but do so without going overboard. The vehicle rides on 14-inch wheels wrapped in Firestone Firehawk tires. A unique feature of the Firebird was the exterior tachometer. Instead of being located on the interior gauge cluster, it is mounted to the top of the hood, therefore, being directly in front of the driver when speeding down the road. One can think of this design choice as a pre-cursor to the heads-up displays in modern vehicles that allow the driver to see information without having to take their eyes off of the road. Another unique design element of the Firebird is the taillights that give the rear end of the vehicle an aggressive appearance.

Inside the vehicle is a black vinyl interior that is in exceptionally good condition with everything remaining stock with the exception of an aftermarket radio and a few additional gauges. Not only does this vehicle look amazing it drives equally well. With power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning the driver is sure to be comfortable on any drive. A unique feature of this specific example is that it was used in a photoshoot by The Danbury Mint. Those photos were then used to make a model car that became available for purchase. One of these model cars is included with the sale of this vehicle.

The Pontiac Firebird is an American automobile built by Pontiac from 1967 to the 2002 model years. Designed as a muscle car to compete with the Mercury Cougar and Dodge Challenger, it was introduced on February 23, 1967, the same model year as GM's Chevrolet division platform-sharing Camaro. The first generation Firebird had characteristic Coke bottle styling shared with its cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro. Announcing a Pontiac styling trend, the Firebird's bumpers were integrated into the design of the front end, giving it a more streamlined look than the Camaro.
