The 1931 Ford Model A Model 400A (or A400 as most describe it) was a 1931-only Model A and only 5,500 were manufactured worldwide and probably less than 5,000 here in the US. Henry Ford authorized son Edsel, to produce an “upper end, elegant Model A suitable to drive to the country club”. Legend has it that the “400” name came from the 400 New York Social Club/Community which was a society of wealthy people of the time with membership limited to the top 400 people. The A400 is about the epitome of a Model A and examples traded for upwards of $50-60,000 in years gone by when you could find one for sale. Now that the older collectors are both aging out of the hobby and passing on, there are some A400's on the market and the prices have moderated somewhat. Such is the case with the one we are selling. A collector passed away and we are moving it on to a new home. This example was restored for touring and was updated with a Mitchell overdrive and turn signals. It is correctly painted in Bronson Yellow with Seal Brown trim and black fenders. It has a period-correct trunk on the back.

The owner had the chassis completely rebuilt. The restoration included rebuilding the brakes, front and rear ends, all the electrical, and the engine was rebuilt and comes with an article about the engine rebuild that the owner had done. This is an excellent example that can cruise at a comfortable 55 mph. This is a definite must consider!
