The biggest re-design in Corvette history came with the introduction of the C5 or fifth generation that was built from 1997-2004. It was completely new from head to toe and some of the manufacturing and designs would be carried through to two models later through the C7. It had an all new all aluminum V8 that would churn out over 350 HP and have a top speed in the 175 MPH range. It had a better coefficient drag than seen before as well as being lighter it made for a much more powerful and comfortable car with great road manners.
