The first “02 Series” BMW was designated as a entry level car that was smaller, less expensive, and less well-appointed than the four-door sedan on which it was based. It made its debut at the Geneva auto show in March 1966 and were sold through 1977 with a couple different engine variations. Road and Track was impressed calling it “a great automobile for the price”
After a couple years of production a few people noticed that the size, wheel base and generally sporty stance would make for a great sports sedan and the Turbo model was born. The production on the Turbo only lasted for a couple of years and are highly sought after. These cars also gained quite a bit of attention of weekend club racers making them a favorite on the track as well.
This particular 2002 is a very nice driver quality car that starts, runs and stops as it should with everything in working order. Please note that it is missing the lower trim piece on the drivers side. It has a older paint job that still shows very well. The car is ready to be enjoyed or with little work could be show ready.
These cars have increasingly gained in popularity among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
