In the world of classic cars, one of the most sought after vehicles is the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this low production Sebring Silver example for consideration. For '63, the Corvette received a major restyling, new mechanics, and a new name "Stingray". Zora Arkus-Duntov convinced the brass at GM to include independent rear suspension on the '63 because he believed he could sell 30,000 cars if they had it with actual production topping out at 21,513. The '63 Corvette included new twin headlights that are hidden behind an electrically operating cover. This added to the aerodynamics of the car when the headlights were not in use. The fastback coupe, with its split rear window, was very controversial and was removed in '64 so it makes the '63 very unique.

Under the hood is a L76 327ci 340hp V8. It is a non-numbers matching block, however, the heads, intake manifold, and carb are all numbers matching and from the original L76 327ci. This was the second highest horsepower V8 one could order in a Corvette in '63, the highest being the L84 360hp Fuel Injected V8. It is matted to the original numbers matching Muncie M20 4-speed transmission and turns the original numbers matching rear end gear. It runs and drives very well and all of the gauges, clock, and flip up lights work flawlessly.

The car is a very well presented driver that is consistently entered into shows. As far as the documentation shows, it has been a Michigan vehicle since 1987 and it has had at least 3 owners. The current owner has owned it since 1998 and the previous owner from 1987-1998. Included with the car is a binder with 26 years of documentation, an assembly manual, owner's manual, marketing literature, maintenance books, and a cover. Split window Corvettes will continue to be prized cars among collectors and enthusiasts and this is a perfect opportunity to invest in one that you won't be afraid to actually drive!
